Caught in the infinite scroll
Have you ever looked at your phone for ‘just a moment’ and, without realizing it, 30 minutes or even an hour have passed? Endless content, like reels, stories, or constant notifications, is designed to grab your attention and keep you connected longer.
Every minute in front of a screen is one minute less for you to reconnect with yourself, your environment and those little moments that nourish your emotional well-being.
Tips for breaking the cycle:
- Set a visible screen time limit. Seeing the time used helps you to make more conscious decisions.
- Define moments without a phone. For example, when you wake up, during meals or before going to sleep. Creating rituals without a screen makes you more present.
- Get your phone out of your visual range.
- Ask yourself a mindful question before opening an app. ‘What am I opening this for?’ If there is no clear intention, it may not be the time.
Conscious disconnection doesn’t mean giving up technology, but regaining your attention, energy, and presence. Taking care of yourself also starts with where you put your focus.
